Long- and short-term parking at Penang International Airport is available in some 800 car parking spaces. Penang International Airport has three terminal buildings, but only one is used for passenger services.
The information stand is in the arrivals hall and passengers should make enquiries here, if they require long- and short-term parking at Penang International Airport. The information stand will also be able to help in the case of lost luggage.
The terminal buildings offers duty free shopping, restaurants and cafeterias, a bank and bureau de change, a gift shop and pharmacy as well as a first aid station for small emergencies. The WiFi hotspot is located in the arrivals hall and there passengers can also find the business centre, which offers telephones, printing and fax services. A VIP lounge is reserved for first class passengers or those with the relevant credentials through the various gold or platinum credit cards that allow this type of upgrade.
Getting to Penang’s capital city George Town is quick and convenient. It takes just 20 minutes to cover the 16 km distance using the Bayan Lepas Highway and the route is well sign-posted. The airport is situated to the south of George Town.
There are several major cities quite close to the airport. Bayan Baru is just 6 km away and Pulau Betong is situated some 11 km away, while Tanjong Tokong is located 24 km from Penang Airport.
Throughout the airport there are disabled facilities like specially adapted toilets, ramps and lifts, but there are also specially designated parking spaces for the disabled and people with reduced mobility. Penang International Airport parking spaces for disabled passengers are located closest to the passenger terminal and passengers with reduced mobility can get assistance from the car park to the terminal building, if they call their airline in advance to arrange this service.
Penang International Airport parking is located within an easy walking distance of the passenger terminal. At present the airport is undergoing expansion as a new low-cost carrier terminal is under construction. This is causing the occasional delays at peak times, when passengers are trying to get in and out of the car parks. Departures from Penang Airport should leave plenty of time for parking and check-in.
For just a quick pick up or drop off in the long- and short-term parking facilities passengers are charged RM 0.50 for ten minutes and then RM 1.00 for 30 minutes’ of parking. There are enough parking spaces without having to book parking arrangements in advance.
The passenger terminal consists of two levels, with the ground level being used for arrivals and the upper level being used for departures. Sky bridged connect the two levels and passengers can walk to board their planes.
